Various youth organizations in General Santos City were summoned and gathered at KCC Convention and Events Center to attend the 1st Youth Conference 2014, April 7, 2014.
Voice of the Youth (VOTY) - General Santos, represented by Ms. Luwelyn Mae Mahinay, and other organized groups were privileged to be acknowledged and thanked by the Honorable City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera, as well as the distinguished councilors and guest speakers, for being a part of this innovative movement for Youth Networking and Database.
The formal meeting of the youth highlighted the discussions on relevant social issues such as teenage pregnancy, poverty, child labor, bullying, drug addiction, and peer pressure.
These major topics that were discussed affects the youth and the social framework of the city. The participants arrived with well thought solutions which may fix or eradicate these existing problems such as, livelihood education, information drive on drug addiction, seminars on peer pressure, symposiums about gender discrimination and the campaign to strengthen the ALS.
These and the other proposals tackled in the conference are for the preparation of youth development policy which will take effect in the near future.
